Not only are we Mackay’s premier bin cleaners living by our mantra “Not just clean – Wheelie Clean” but we believe that convenience is important to our growing client base, here’s a few examples of how we deliver convenience.

1. Convenient cleaning schedule. The last thing you want to do when you get home from work is get out the cleaning products, brushes, Pressure cleaner etc and start cleaning your bins, right! We arrive on your scheduled recycle collection day, clean and sanitise your bins and place them back up near your home when completed, so you come home to clean fresh bins.
2. Convenient Booking. Easy on line or phone booking, where you choose a one off clean or a scheduled clean on a frequency that suits your needs. You also get to choose the number of bins you want cleaned. More frequent, More bins = More savings.
3. Convenient cancellation or hold options. So, you’ve booked an overseas holiday, no problem just let us know and we can place your scheduled clean and subscription on hold till you get back. Or you’ve just expanded your business to Brisbane and need to move, no worries we can immediately cancel. Very Convenient when you only pay for the services you receive.
4. Convenient payment. We provide our clients with a range of payment options to ensure they are comfortable with the payment process and so that its convenient and secure.

Payment options offered by DWW
Why do we offer so many payment options? Well our client base differs considerably with young millennials wanting a simple online booking and payment system so that they can get on with their lives, to elderly people preferring to phone through a booking and pay with cash.
The majority of our customers, both residential and commercial, opt for regular scheduled bin cleaning on a fortnightly or monthly basis and we wanted to offer an option where you pay as you use the service without the need to pay in advance.

Subscription service (Credit Card) – Book online or over the phone, you pay as you go, no need to pay for 6 or 12 months in advance, you are simply set up against a secure subscription that automatically charges your credit card on the same frequency as your cleaning schedule. The payment is usually deducted on the day prior to your scheduled bin clean day.
All transactions are SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protected. Your information is securely transmitted during the processing of all payments using encryption. We also use Stripe as our payment gateway which is a PCI Service Provider Level 1 being the highest grade of payment processing security. You can rest assured that your information is safe and secure.
Advantages – Autopilot simplicity of a subscription, no need to reorder every month, no need to be home or leave money in the letterbox, no fixed term or lock in contract, can pause or cancel subscription at any time, very secure.

Pay On Invoice (Bank Transfer or Credit Card) – Book over the phone, no need to pay for 6 or 12 months in advance, we simply send you a monthly invoice via email for services rendered and you have the option to click and pay with credit card or use bank transfer to pay funds directly to our bank account.
Advantages – No need to reorder every month, no need to be home or leave money in the letterbox, no fixed term or lock in contract, can pause or cancel at any time, very secure.

Cash – Easy booking over the phone, we simply arrange the best and safest way to collect cash from the client. Some clients prefer to pay for services in advance with this method and work down the credit, rather than having to pay at every visit.
While this is not as secure as the previous options some clients still prefer the folding stuff. There is a requirement to either be home or leave the money in a prearranged place
Advantages – No need to reorder every month, no fixed term or lock in contract, can pause or cancel at any time.

Bin hygiene advice

Your bins can be a haven for all sorts of nasties including flies, maggots, insects, bacteria and bad smells especially up here in the tropics but with these tips and some cooperation from the whole family, you can keep them clean and smelling sweet.

Maggots

Most people don’t like the thought of maggots in their bins and who could blame them…. however maggots don’t really present much of a health risk at this stage but once they complete their cycle and transform into flies is when the problems start as they take to the sky spreading bacteria everywhere, which is definitely a health risk.

Maggots result from the presence of flies which are attracted to odours and lay their eggs in moist or decomposing material. They are especially attracted to materials with high protein content such as meat and fish. Maggots only exist if flies have been allowed to have access to a food source and lay their eggs, do not leave food waste exposed in the kitchen where it could attract flies. Maggots can appear within 8-12 hours of eggs being laid so the best method of control is to stop them breeding by limiting their access.

A fly is more likely to lay eggs in your waste BEFORE it is placed in the bin. Therefore, it is important to keep your waste covered and place it in the bin as soon as possible.

In the kitchen

Do not leave food waste exposed where it could attract flies.

Sort and separate food waste, recyclables and general waste at the source.

Rinse all food packaging (recyclable and non-recyclable) before putting it in the yellow and red bins. Rinsing yoghurt pots, meat trays and other packaging will help reduce smells.

Wrap scraps and unwanted pet food in paper prior to bagging and placing in waste bin.

Remove excess air and securely tie bags before placing in waste bin.

Bag and place left-over meat, prawn shells and similar food scraps in the freezer until collection day.

Keep your kitchen food waste bin out of direct sunlight, preferably in a cupboard.

Keep the lids on all your bins tightly closed.

Empty your kitchen food waste bin frequently.

Wipe up spills inside your kitchen bin and wash or disinfect regularly both inside and out.

Keep all food covered and put scraps in the kitchen food waste bin straight away.

Keep food preparation areas clean and use a disinfectant.

Dispose of liquid/sloppy food waste via the sink.

Wash hands and work surfaces after contact with waste.

Outside Bins

Keep your bin lids closed at all times. If your bin is broken, has cracks or splits call Mackay Regional Council on 1300 622 529 to lodge a customer request for repair or replacement.

Store your outside bins in a well-ventilated, shady and convenient location. Keeping your bins out of direct sunlight will help slow general decomposition and reduce smells.

Do not overfill your bins. By sorting your waste properly you could potentially reduce your red bin rubbish by more than half.

Bag general rubbish, remove excess air and securely tie before putting in the red bin.

Rinse recyclable food packaging, bottles and cans to remove any excess food residue and allow them to drain thoroughly before putting them in the recycling bin.

Avoid placing grass clippings in with your general waste as this provides a warm and moist breeding environment which is perfect for all the nasty bacteria to thrive. Consider using a dedicated garden waste bin.

Pet waste can be buried in your garden. If you decide to throw it away, double bag tie securely.

Empty the contents of soiled nappies into the toilet before placing them in the bin.

Wrap, bag/double bag nappies and sanitary items to reduce smells.

Keep bins as dry as possible.

Don’t place harmful substances such as chemicals, solvents, used engine oils, paints or other similar hazardous or damaging waste in your rubbish bin. They harm us, our equipment and the environment.

If required, rinse your bins after collection with a mild detergent, vinegar and water solution to kill odours, bacteria and flies. Keep in mind water restrictions and the environment, avoid the use of strong detergents or bleach.

Pay attention to tell-tale signs of vermin such as cockroaches or mice and take appropriate steps to ensure effective pest control in bin areas. Consider using Bin Bombs as an effective bin odour solution and pest control, see previous blog.

Having your bins professionally cleaned on a regular basis provides the best way to keep them hygienically safe and free from harmful bacteria, especially if you choose Deluxe Wheelie Wash.
